Answers To Your Most Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to build a house?

The time frame to build a home depends a lot on the size of the home, and the scope of the work on the home. Generally a home 2000-4000 s.f. can be built in 6 months. A larger home can take 8-12 months depending on the amount of specialty materials and/or imported materials. Designing a home can take 1-4 months depending on how detailed and large the home is. Permitting can take 3-5 weeks. Financing approval can take 30-60 days. For a lot of our clients we tell plan on an 8-10 month time from starting the talk about building a home, to moving into that home.


How much does it cost to build a house?

That can be a very tricky question a lot of people tend to get caught up in, and builders can tell people a lot of things they want to hear. Most quality builders tend to tell clients a large range in pricing per S.F. There are so many factors that can make the Per S.F. price go up or down depending on the materials used, design of the home, natural terrain of the property, Well and Septic vs. City Sewer and Water. Those are just a few. There are some times when we can answer that question accurately and that is when we have someone who wants to build a home we have previously built using those same materials and are using the same or very similar SPECS.


Will you build on our Lot?

Yes, Michael Vincent Custom Homes builds for Client’s when they already own the property. Some Clients come to us before they buy a property and we enter into a Design Phase contract and handle all the designing. Planning, and budgeting for their new home based on a certain property they own or are interested in buying. This includes the Architectural Blue Prints, and Site Engineering work. Other times Clients come to us with their own Blue Prints done and want us to give them a price to build that home on their property.


Do you do Remodeling?

Yes, Michael Vincent Custom Homes does a lot of Remodeling. We do large projects that include complete Gutting of the home and re-constructing it, to additions, to smaller projects like kitchen and bathroom remodeling. Using our same sub-contractors on new construction and remodeling ensures the Clients get the same quality on a remodel as they get on a new home.


Do you have insurance?

Yes, Michael Vincent Custom Homes carries a large insurance policy covering $1 million in liability, $500,000 in workers compensation, $1 million in auto mobile coverage and a $4 million dollar Umbrella policy that blankets over all of those. We also ensure all of our sub-contractors carrier the proper coverage and in-force that coverage via a “sub-contractor agreement”. This ensures the best coverage for us, and most important making sure our client’s lives and assets are protected.


Do you have a Warranty?

Yes, Michael Vincent Custom Homes has a 1-year warranty that covers all materials and labors on your new home or remodel project. We pass along all of our manufacture warranties to the Client.


Do you work with Sub-Contractors?

Yes, Michael Vincent Custom Homes works with many sub-contractors throughout a new construction or remodel project. We pride ourselves in have great relationships with all of or subs and have been using all of our subs for multiple years, some as many as 15 years. We believe that those strong relationships help build our Client’s homes better, faster, and with more transparency. All of our client’s at the end of a project, speak very highly of our subs, and the ease of communication on and off the job site with them.
