Rescues are full of furkids of all ages. Puppies should not be adopted out before they are at least eight (8) weeks old. Although puppies are so cute and cuddly and everyone wonders how they land up in rescues, they are the first ones that will be euthanized in the shelters. Since they take up so much room due to the number of pups in the litter and due to not having their immunity completely established, they are a risk to shelters. Just remember that puppies mean work when it comes to housebreaking and training. But they are adorable and it is fun to watch them grow.

But then we look at the positive side of adopting furkids which are little older. They have already gone through their teething (chewing) stage and, in most cases, are housebroken. What you see is usually their full size so there are no surprises. They might be a little calmer since the hyper puppy stage is over.

Once again, good luck in your home selection and please: OPT TO ADOPT.

How wonderful! It is time to purchase a home and there are so many exciting things to think about. Maybe it also time to get that new pet which you had promised yourself you would get when you moved into a home. There is nothing nicer than to have the unconditional love which a furkid can give you, the companionship of a wagging tail that will understand your moods and just waits for a kind word or a pat on the head.

Please consider adopting your new best friend. Thousands of dogs are euthanized weekly due to over crowdedness in the shelters and people not bothering to spay or neuter their pets. Usually not much history is known but they all have one thing in common -- UNWANTED. Although some shelter dogs are pedigrees -- most are muttagrees (aka breed unknown). They are loving beautiful creatures who are just waiting to be noticed and to find a family that will give them a chance for life.
